Plastic Optics, Mirrors, and Mold Inserts
In-house diamond turning enables rapid fabrication of precision plastic lenses, mirrors, and injection mold inserts. Combined with our other capabilities, the result is unmatched speed and flexibility.
Greenlight Has 4 Diamond Turning Machines:
Our two Moore Nanotech 250UPL are among the most accurate machine tools on the planet today. The Nanotech 250UPLs have box way hydrostatic slides, air bearing spindle with liquid cooling, and are equipped with C-axis control and NanoCam 3D software for freeform optics fabrication.
Our Precitech 700 Ultra is a 4 axis diamond turning machine combining incredible precision in rotational symmetric and freeform diamond turning with maximum flexibility thanks to the large size and B-axis rotary table.
Our Pneumo MSG 325 delivers outstanding precision, a large capacity, and 2 axis turning capability. The MSG 325 has precision air-bearing spindle, air bearing linear slides, laser interferometer position control, toolset station, and exceptional stability.
Precision metrology is provided by a Taylor Hobson PGI Freeform Profilometer, Taylor Hobson Series 2 Talysurf profilometer, Zygo NewView interferometer, Zeiss CMM, and on-machine gaging on the Nanotechs and Precitech.
Every new diamond turning job requires creativity and unmatched attention to detail. The diamond turning machinists at Greenlight have an average of 20 years experience diamond turning - including previous careers with US Precision Lens (USPL), Corning Precision Lens, and 3M Precision Optics. USPL/Corning/3M was renowned for having exceptional diamond turning capability – especially plastic aspheres and mold inserts.
