Managing Partner - Business
Michael O’Keefe has 18 years of optical systems manufacturing, marketing, and business management experience. Prior to co-founding Greenlight Optics LLC, Mr. O’Keefe was a Marketing Manager with 3M’s Display and Graphics business where he held overall global business development and marketing responsibility for the Mobile Projection Engine business. As one of the founders of the Mobile Projection Engine business, he managed the program from conception to full commercialization. Previously, Mr. O’Keefe was responsible for overall management of the Optical Components plastic optics business and leading the Advanced Optical Solutions new ventures team in Cincinnati. From 1994 to 1999 at USPL, he supported projection lens manufacturing as a quality engineer and tooling operations leader – directing optical mold development, metal housing machining, and diamond turning operations. Mr. O’Keefe received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a MBA from Xavier University.
Managing Partner - Engineering
Bill Phillips has over 21 years working in various Optical and Electro-Optical fields. Prior to co-founding Greenlight Optics LLC, he worked as project manager and lead engineer for various projects at 3M and USPL. Bill Phillips was the lead engineer for the mobile projection program for 3M. Under his leadership various engine architectures were developed. Prior to mobile projection, Mr. Phillips developed optical measurement equipment, including motion control and image evaluation systems design, for both high speed manufacturing and product development. Mr. Phillips has also debugged numerous optical systems in production and development, worked with diffractive optics, wrote several large C++ applications for optical analysis, developed pattern recognition algorithms, and worked on 3D imaging systems. He is an author on numerous journal articles and conference papers, as well as several patents. Mr. Phillips has a B.S. from Xavier University in Applied Physics and a M.S. in Electro-Optics from University of Dayton.
Managing Partner - Technology
Todd Rutherford has 17 years of experience working in wide ranging areas of optical science. Prior to co-founding Greenlight Optics LLC, he worked as a product development manager with 3M. In that capacity, he was responsible for systems engineering and lead customer support for the world’s first Mobile Projection light engine. From 2001 to 2006 he was a senior optical engineer working on components and systems for projection displays. In this role he worked with imaging and illumination systems, diffractive optics, thermal management, opto-mechanical design, electronics, and optical metrology. Earlier, Mr. Rutherford did research on high power lasers with applications ranging from directed energy to material processing to ultra-precision measurement. He is an author on 15 journal articles and conference papers, as well as 10 patents. Mr. Rutherford has a B.S. from Yale University and a Ph.D. from Stanford University, both in Applied Physics.
