Future Global Demand for Surgical Lamps is Bright

A market study published by Persistence Market Research shows that the demand for surgical lamps is expected to grow for the foreseeable future.

Surgical lamps are a medical device that provide optimal, shadow-free, high-intensity lighting for surgical procedures like neurosurgery, dental surgery, endoscopic surgery, and optical surgery. Delicate procedures on small, low-contrast areas of the body require perfect, reliable lighting, which is why operating rooms around the world have a high demand for surgical lamps.

Innovation and technological advancements in operating rooms are one component of the growing market—with more operating rooms and surgical centers, there’s a greater need for surgical lamps.

Another driver behind market growth is an increased demand for surgeries in general. With improved technologies, lower costs, shorter recovery periods, and a greater range of options, patients are turning in larger numbers to surgery for relief of a number of ailments, particularly in developed countries.

Developed countries are also putting more pressure on hospitals and surgical centers to adopt implementation of energy efficient practices. Surgical lamps are a highly efficient source of light, making it an easy and practical way to comply with new energy standards. According to LUPUS UK, a government charity supporting people with systemic lupus and discoid lupus, usage of CFLs and LED lamps are expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050 and save on energy bills at home, healthcare organizations, and in workplace fitted with energy-efficient bulbs.
